John Clewarth is a writer of stories for children and young adults. He writes books that are both funny and spooky, and loves to take his readers on big adventures where imagination runs wild! His first book, the chiller - Firestorm Rising - reached the finals of The People's Book Prize.
His latest book, Jack Devlin and The Roman Curse, was published on June 9th 2023, by Little Red's Publishing.

Before writing full time, John was a teacher and is passionate about motivating children to believe that they, too, can become successful readers and writers:

"The work John has done in school has been a catalyst in us driving reading and enjoyment across school. He engaged reluctant readers and writers with his spooky tales and the writing produced as a result speaks for itself.

We wanted to do something different for World book day and try and inspire our young readers and we asked John to help. He wrote a fantastic letter to each child to help them feel inspired and engaged to design a t-shirt based on a book for our World book day celebrations. We are very proud and excited to have John become part of our school family as our Patron of Reading. We are excited for his next visit and the joy it will bring to our pupils."
